Do not talk ill behind someone’s back

Do not talk ill behind someone’s back

पिट्ठिमंसं न खाएज्जा

One should not talk ill of others in their absence

Association with the sadhu

Association with the sadhu

कुज्जा साहूहिं संथवं

Contacts must be maintained with the Sadhus

Eulogy means to know, contact or association. Association influences the whole life. It opens the door of progress. An insect is able to reach the head of the idol because of its association with the flowers. One small river or canal can reach far beyond its power by associating with Gangas, into the gem-filled sea. On the other hand, association with the crooked opens the door of failures. Living with evil men, one adopts evil ways of life, enjoys evil – his all round downfall starts. Continue reading “Association with the sadhu” »

Who is not an Ascetic?

अच्छंदा जे न भुंजंति, न से चाइ त्ति वुच्चई

They cannot be called ascetics who cannot enjoy because of dependence

Love for praise

कसोक्खेहिं सद्देहिं पेमं नाभिनिवेसए

If we do good work then people will surely praise us. Words of admiration are delightful and people like listening those words, but we should not be attached to words, which are ear pleasing; otherwise, it is possible that dupers may dupe us. Continue reading “Love for praise” »

Simplicity and contentment

Simplicity and contentment

माया मज्जवभावेणं,
लोहं सन्तोसओ जिणे

Win deceit with simplicity and greed with contentment

Simplicity and evil are opposite words. People have unshakable faith on a simple person and total disbelief on the crooked. Where there is trust, love is there only; and where there is love, only there is happiness. Continue reading “Simplicity and contentment” »
