Capable of improving the self and others
अलमप्पणो होंति अलं परेसिं
Stone-boat sinks itself and let others also sink; but the boat made of wood floats itself and allow others also to float in it. This is the difference between a wise man and an ignorant. Ignorant aimlessly wanders in this world and make the dependants also drift along showing them wrong way of life; but the wise men neither gets astray nor lets others go off course. They are able to liberate themselves and liberate others also, they are wise themselves and also preach others, they free themselves and make others also free. Extinction of accumulated karma
तुट्टन्ति पावकम्माणि
नवं कम्ममकुव्वओ
नवं कम्ममकुव्वओ
One who does not bind new karma, his past karma are annihilated
Eye of the aspirant
से हु चक्खु मणुस्साणं,
जे कंखाए य अन्तए
जे कंखाए य अन्तए
One who has overcome desires, he is the eye of men
Self alone suffers
एगो सयं पच्चणुहोइ दुक्खं
Sorrow is the sure result of one’s mistakes, which everyone has to suffer. No one else can share this; whether he be the closest friend, relative or family member. ए खलु कामभोगा, ओ अहमसि
Sense gratification is different, I am different
Criticizer wanders
जो परिभवइ परं जणं,
संसारे परिवत्तई महं
संसारे परिवत्तई महं
One who criticizes, wanders in the world
Contented do not commit sins
सन्तोसिणो नो पकरेंति पावं
Contented do not commit sins
Principled Livelihood
धम्मेणं चेव वित्तिं कप्पेमाणा विहरंति
Good family-members lead religious life only
Best penance
तवेसु वा उत्तमं बंभचेरं
Chastity is the best penance
One better than another
सूरं मण्णइ अप्पाणं,
जाव जेयं न पस्सति
जाव जेयं न पस्सति
Man believes himself brave until he does not see the conqueror
