From one verse only

From one verse only

सित्थेण दोणपागं, कविं च एक्काए गाहाए

From a granule, the completely cooked food and from a single verse a poet can be judged

A thing can be judged looking at its part also. By pressing a single granule of cooked rice, it can be judged whether the entire quantity has been properly cooked. For this, one need not press all the rice granules.

Similarly, a poet can be judged by considering one of his poems. The pleasure derived out of one poem can make us imagine the pleasure inherent in his total literary work.
